About

Mariana Duarte is a researcher and documentary filmmaker based in Edinburgh. Her short film Headland (2024) premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and won Best Mini-Doc at Big Sky DocFest, and she most recently researched Anatomy of Indifference (dir. Ilinca Călugăreanu), a feature documentary supported by Screen Scotland. She also works as an edit consultant and curator, and is completing a part-time, practice-based PhD in film at Edinburgh College of Art. Before documentary, she spent ten years editing film and television, including drama for TV Globo, Latin America’s largest broadcaster.
